Objetivo General:
Identify the HHP imports, use and alternatives in main Costarican crops to generate an action plan to phase out them.
Vigencia:
2018
Resumen:
The project is for the continuation of the activities (Please refer to the Agreement: SSFA/2015/DTIE/Chems/091) of the SAICM QSP project "Highly Hazardous Pesticides phase out and alternatives in Costa Rica??. Although much information on HHP was generated (identification of HHP used in Costa Rican agriculture, identification of hazardous practices associated with HHP, identification of good agricultural practices and alternatives), it was limited to two crops (pineapple and coffee), but the situation in other crops is unknown. That is why a project extension was requested to increase the scope of crops and geographical areas of Costa Rica where the population and the environment are being exposed to HHPs. The information will provide technical criteria for prioritization of HHP within the National Chemical Safety Plan framework.
